Restoration of VW Thing

ok here we go cars history
this THING was being scraped by my friend but i was able to persuade him not to.
The car stayed there still at the same place where it was parked 10 to 12years YES 10 to 12 years out side in rain and heat.it was in perfect condition when it was parked.
l had a deal with the guy and after a huge debate(fight)I was able to get the car out of the mechanics hand where car was parked.

wow great project, looks great after being cleaned up, seems pretty solid in the pics, eagerly looking forward to more...

today cleaned the car and striped it to have a better look at rust
it requires alot of denting ,complete floor,fender
dam you RUST

Good to see the details on the Thing, thanks for sharing the pictures.

Unfortunately, the Thing is too far gone IMHO, even for a veteran VW restorer. Sadly, it's no way near the state I saw it in a couple of years ago.

Its not just that A LOT of money/time is set to go in this project but ultimate resolve and the patience would be required to bring her back to glory. Anyway, Good luck with the project and my foremost advice to you, stay patient while you work on this THING.

yea i know

last year when i visited its fender were were in perfect state and also it had complete floor.
after ripping of the carpet i came to know that it requires complete floor change.
after talking to few people came to know floor is not that big of problem will cost 6 to 12k for complete replacement
